Really simple, and fun: BattleMasters. (My ten-year-old loves it.)

Slightly more complex (only slightly) and fun: Heroscape. (But it doesn't have the Mighty Cannon, so my son's not as interested.)

Very simple, good for a quick game: BattleBall by Hasbro.

Simple enough to be grasped by a bright 10-year-old, but you'll have to explain things to him: Warmaster. (Fun game, too.)

Simple to play, but with good tactical complexity, cool minis, and good boy appeal: GW's LotR games.
