Excellent company level WWII game. Elegant, simple but not simple minded, instinctive, and good tactics matter. Very original design. |

The rules that got me back into miniatures. Elegant in their simplicity, challenging in their play. |

Seemed to me it was a great game I played a few games and it was clever. However the original premise and an excellent one, was that the board was rifle range across. Then later versions ditched this as they wanted tanks and artillery. To me it then became a farce, an artillery strike would cover half the board and the danger zone the other. not the case in the new version. Tanks in that situation are mostly dog meat as they are in anti-tank range of everything, but that was "shifed"; reality suspended for game play, to me personally it made it of no value. We never played it much as it came out as we were looking for a plausible game with vehicles which needs much longer ranges. To be fair it did prove to us that our theory that within rifle range, range bands are not neccessary, so it was a good game even inspired, in some ways and for infantry only it has a lot of merit. But you do need lots of terrain. |
