Question for all. I'm considering adding a Prussian corps into our 1809 project and I'm wondering if anyone knows whether they had implemented a corps organization yet and whether the uniforms had changed to the later type.

Oli Schmidt and Hans-Karl will correct me if I'm wrong, but the new uniforms were in place by 1809 and I believe that the corps structure had been accepted. Whether the troops had had enough training in the new tactics and formations is another matter, though.

I think Dal is correct but I would also have to do a little research. Are you thinking of doing some Prussian intervention in the 1809 Austrian-French War lascaris?

According to Haythornthwaite the revisions and new orgainzation was in place by 1808, including a corps structure of 2 Prussian infantry brigades (actually divisions in size compared to French divisions). You have to remember that at full strength this only amounted to a total of about 40 infantry battalions. 12 Infantry regiments, 3 grenadier battalions, and the Jäger and Schutzen battalions. Not a very strong force to go to war with in 1809. The landwehr and reserve system wasn't in place yet.

Can look this evening but a possible Brigade at that time could be more region base, Just as a rough remembrance all West Prussian units, infantry and cavalry would be together. No Landwehr yet.
I find it will post it

Thank you all very much! Russ has correctly surmised that I'm contemplating a what-if the Prussians had thrown their lot in with Austria in 1809. This would move the timetable of operations up by roughly a month as Charles would likely have attacked out of Bohemia rather than moving the bulk of it south of the Danube. I've always had a hankering to paint up some later Prussians and this is an excuse to do so without having to field an entire large army of them.

Here the composition of the six Prussian brigades for manoeuvres in August 1809:

In case of mobilisation, they would have got much more artillery.

I have Oliver's list in English somewhere in a book, wasn't where I thought. If was starting a Brigade or 2 would be a good base to start a Prussian army.

Nr 2 East Prussian Inf Regt 1 & 2  Bat, Fusileer Bat
