I'm trying to find out what this looked like. I think it was the three PoW feathers over XXIII on a blue oval field. Is that correct?

Which covers the AWI period. I have a much cropped picture of a Black '"Trotter" (ahem) knapsack with XXIII in white.

That's the one. I have sixteen 1/32 Call To Arms 1/32 Foot Guards. I am painting them as Fusiliers, because they're all flank company guys, with wings. The idea is to print these badges onto clear decal paper, then apply them to a patch of white paint on the backpack.

If that works I'll try 20mm shabraque decals next…
