When putting together your own rules do you ever just borrow the weapon/vehicle stats from other games?

It seems like GHQ micro armor has pretty much everything covered for vehicles, only needing minor adoptions to fit the scale of the game. I'm not sure if this is considered "stealing" or not since it is based on historical data. Not that it matters if you aren't selling for money.

Are there other rulesets with better really accessible data sets?

I did that when I first started gaming and eventually folks in my wargame group compiled more accurate data and we when with that. But the published stuff was helpful to let us get started until we could gather the reference material and digest the data we wanted.

I expect as long as you don't print the GHQ stat's and just say you need to get the GHQ rules to check them out, I see no issue. I am uncertain what fair use in rules are, perhaps you can print out the stat's of the 2-3 troop types per side on a cheat sheet.

To answer the OP, yes of course, although some rules are hilariously contradictory about how some things are rated.

I usually convert them into whatever system I'm using. The WRG 1950 to 2000 set are pretty good for modern stuff. Otherwise it is all the old favourites, Command Decision, Spearhead, Firefly, FFoT etc.
