but…but…the StuG III isn't a tank destroyer….

Semantics! – The venerable StuG III gets the TD bonus in 'What a Tanker'!

Though the StuG III was classed as an 'Assault gun' when it appeared with the short barreled 75mm gun, it was upgraded to the long barreled variant to hunt tanks, so the definition is fudgy. Personally, a Tank Destroyer is what you make it to be!

It destroyed tanks with the long 75, didn't it? IMHO it became one de facto.

I agree that it was a de facto TD. It's at the top of my list as well.

Yes, semantics. According to weight the Panther was a heavy tank, about as heavy as the Russian IS-2.

Yes it is semantics … Wolf +1.

However, IMO the Jadgtiger II is my favorite … but for many reasons it was not a game changer. And don't forget Dicker Max link and Sturmer Emil … link

Jadgpanther.

Jagdpanther gets my vote.

Crap logistics and ditches are amongst my favourites.

McWong – That seems to be working pretty well in the Ukraine for Putin's Army … 🤩😎

I've always liked the Stug…but I have a soft spot for the Hetzer, too.

The ones that were destroyed.

The Germans had two flavors of tank destroyers. One was the lightly-armored, open-top, often ad-hoc tracked vehicles intended to run-and-gun against enemy tanks. All the Marders are the primary examples of this type.
The second type is heavily-armored, closed-topped and capable of actually fighting like a tank with the obvious disadvantage of no turret.
STG 3's with long 75's are one of the second type. Since the US didn't have any like this Americans tend to group them all together despite their different capabilities.

Ok I will say it…
Jadgtiger.
