Stumbled across my e-copy of these Osprey rules, read the design notes, and they do sound interesting.

Has anyone played them and have an informed opinion of them?

I have 6mm ACW that are awaiting inspiration to get me painting them, and a "larger scale" set of rules may be just the thing!

Thanks!

Having tried a few games it struck me as mechanically fine but maybe not enough of an improvement to any edition of JR to warrant it's existence. Other community opinions would be good to hear as always.

I have no opinion on the rules as such, but I would like to point out the basing decision involved. Base for ADF, and you're fine for any edition of JR, but you'll have serious difficulties using those castings with any edition of F&F, OTR, MLW or TWF. That's not for or against, but I'd say fool around with cardboard or something and be sure which way you want to go before you base 6mm. Rebasing is no fun at all.

Not necessarily Robert. You could assign each ADF base a certain number of F&F stands and simply mark their loss until it reaches 0 and then remove.

Played six games and enjoyed them. However, if there is a Johnny Reb game at the same time, I'll be there.
