Okay, here is the solution to the problem I laid out in my last post about getting back to Napoleonic Gaming: WoFun Miniatures. link |

Nice idea but their research is a bit sketchy. The colours are in the wrong positions for honour. |

Looks good enough for me. |

I bought a number of WoFun sets too. All 18mm. Punic Wars English Civil War War of the Roses I like them. Stuff I wanted to play put would never paint. Dave |

They might be the only way that I actually start a Peninsular project. |

I purchased the Texas Revolution set and like it very much. Great service too, btw. |

I've been impressed with the variety of figures and periods. I'm very tempted to do the Wars of Frederick the Great in 28 mm. |

The shipping appears to be very reasonable as well. I think I would have to find some way to cover up the "slotta" markets on the base. I suppose it is useful if you want to pop everything off and lay it flat for storage. |

I don't see many Grenadier companies? In fact, I see none (in the non-kilted battalion in the link). And only a front rank of Light company examples. Why are there white faced companies in a yellow (and green) faced battalion? And what the heck does this mean? "7. British Infantry Center Companies Blue Facings (it is really white facings, a typo on the website.)." If they think that different companies had different coloured facings, all I will say is 'Oh dear!' PS. 95th in white trousers? Methinks not! It was even laid down that bright coloured patches were not allowed for 'patching' the uniform. |

dibble, You can buy the flank companies separately and I don't get too worried about the colors in this scale. I think Peter tried to give them a shaded, three dimensional look with the colors. I prefer to just game them if it's close enough. Also, whatever's in the reg's about uniforms, based on my military experience, is not necessarily what is worn in the field! Anyway, a quick and easy way to get gaming. |

Of course this allows people to afford to wargame and bring more people to the hobby, which are good reasons but: "Also, whatever's in the reg's about uniforms, based on my military experience, is not necessarily what is worn in the field! Anyway, a quick and easy way to get gaming." OK! It just makes one wonder why wargamers, even those just starting in the hobby bother with tomes of historical battles, uniform research, sable brushes, paint etc. Oh! And in some cases, conversion, to painstakingly strive for uniform accuracy of each individual figure. The Napoleonic uniform was one of the top reasons for drawing me to the hobby. I wonder what drew others? |

dibbl, Maybe the fun, the social activity and the fun of gaming? |
