Slept on many fields of the Civil War, Chickamauga, Gettysburg, Antietam, Shiloh and many more and many times. Only had one odd thing happen and that was at Chickamauga on one of the dates of the original battle. Even the head ranger could not explain what we heard. Volley fire from one end of the field to the other end. Rolling. Happened 3 times. I have been at re-enactments with over 10000 taking part, so know what musket volley fire sounds like. Around 15 of us there, at night. All heard it including the ranger. Can't explain it, but it was what we heard. Heard stories of other things from other people, but my only personal experience in over 40 years of sleeping in battlefield parks. |

Had a friend whose wife would not get out of the car at Andersonville, he said she was filled with dread and ill at ease. I've experienced some odd things at Spring Hill, TN. Seeing a person out of the corner of my eye to then turn and face them and find no one there. |

My sister-in-law claimed to smell blood (she has had some medical training) at high tide mark at Gettysburg after a rain. The guide said it had something to do with so much blood being spilled that it changed the chemical composition of the soil. I think it was ghosts ;-) |
