I don't use my finger, but I often prep a brush for dry brushing by removing excess paint onto the back of my left hand as it holds the item being painted. |

I occasionally use my left thumbnail as a pallet when painting very small details. Sometimes I need so little pain that it dries on the brush before I can get it to the figure. Having a dab of paint in the thumb nail of the hand that holds the figure drastically shortens the distance. Also do this when using a magnifying visor. |

Hah, I use the thumbnail as a palette thing too. I thought that I might be the only one. I also use the thumbnail to clean the paint out of my brush: I dip then brush in the water and swish most of the paint off in the water jar, but then I drop a small amount of water on my thumbnail and gently wipe the brush against the end of my fingernail. This causes small bits of pigment to ease out from between the bristles thereby cleaning the brush. |

My thumb cops it when drybrushing as mentioned above. Very occasionally I use my finger or thumb as a quick way to wipe off a mistake. Preferably I use a brush hastily dipped in water though. |

Nothing keeps paint brush hair at a fine point like your tongue. Luckily the paint is not toxic. Ooh, this Orc green is minty! |
