I was hoping someone more experienced with army building might have some suggestions for my 28mm Roman army. I have a really bad habit of buying multiple manufacturers, mostly because I really don't want the citizen militia that was the Camillian/Polybian legion to look too uniform. There's also so many neat figures to choose from! As a result, I've made several poor decisions on buying a couple figures and then realizing they are completely incompatible with each other. I already decided on Aventine, A&A, and Crusader, since they look pretty decent together and I like the sculpts, but I'm looking to see if there are any others I should look into to fill out the army's shortcomings (like no kneeling triarii, more Italian allies or subarmalis). I'm certainly open to having some of them in separate units, but some look too out of place even with that caveat, like 1st Corps (bulky hobbits) and Relic (shrimpy boys). Nice models though! I would greatly prefer to stay with metal, but if my hand is forced, I could see myself looking past that rule. |

This lists 25/28mm suppliers. link Some suppliers i have used or are considering to use; Lancashire: link I only buy 15mm, but i found the infantry good and the cavalry acceptable if a bit rough. Very good price, these are my main range these days. Miniature Figures link People often claim they are plain, but they are normally good servicable figures. These are my #2 range these days. Old Glory link I am not very familiar with this range. Essex link Note these are 28mm. The figures are ok and i use this company, but i prefer the ranges above. Magister Militum link note these are 28mm, a lot of people say good things about this range. |

@ pfmodel and Cerdic Thank you for those resources; very informative! However, aren't Old Glory and Essex really tiny in comparison to Crusader/A&A/Aventine? |

Lancashire, Miniature Figures and Old Glory are 25mm, so would be smaller than 28mm. IN theory 3mm, in practice it depends, especially for cavalry. Essex is suppose to be 28mm, i am uncertain if they are smaller than other 28mm figures but if so i would expect them to call it 25mm. I must admit not being a great fan of Essex, there is something about their castings i do not like but other gamers love them. |
