So it's finished. Time for the parade!

I hope you like this little lot. They've taken a long time to do (especially as I've simultaneously painted a similar sized French army), and to be frank, I'm glad to see the back of them.

"Quite" is understatement par excellence.

Gorgeous work. Brilliant in every respect. Groundwork too is fabulous; really like the dry, slightly rocky look.

Jabba Miles14 Jan 2022 5:41 a.m. PST

Brilliant as usual.

Gorgeous. I am about to start my Portuguese (but in 15mm).

Dear lord! I can only pay you my highest compliment, "I hate you." Simply a dream. Cannot wait to see the French. Truly a work of a talented painter. H

Very nicely done – Now when do we get to field them?

You Sir, are the most influential painter of miniatures. Your work inspires my Napoleonic armies. Your painting keeps us all painting I'm sure.

How long did this take you? I feel your pain about the burnout at around 50% done.

Beautiful!

I started this army, and a French army of similar size, back in May 2016 after this initial order arrived (it weighed in at 28Kg):

Brits

French

Portuguese

Since then painting has occurred in fits and starts, sometimes going several months without a figure being painted.

Initially I thought two to three years for completion but, the collection kept growing, increasing by about 50% in the end, and it's actually taken five and a half years.

The French army is almost done too. I have just three units and a command stand left to do. it's basically the same size as this one, unit for unit, but has 72 figures less overall. When I get the last 76 French figures painted, both armies will have a combined man count of 2008 figures.

Last year, in expectation of finishing the Brits and French, I spent another £1,200.00 GBP+ and bought the Spanish army – it's all bagged, tagged and ready to go.

This is a magnificent looking force, congrats!

I might have gone with an extra Portuguese cav unit, but seriously, no one is going to care with such a wonderful group of figures to use for various Peninsula games. Also, it is great you're on to some Spanish next!

Lovely! Well done you.

Thanks for sharing the time it took. I had the same situation with my 28mm ACW. It took me 3 years, but it was small collection, and it has grown as new sets are released and other makers that I see at conventions with cool stuff.

I think the fastest painting for me was my Sudan setup. The Parry sculpts are such a joy to paint.

Commendable effort

It is always wonderful to see, British understatement and modesty, you should be rightfully proud of your excellent work

Super work. I know what a job this can be, as I'm still working on Wargam in 15mm, for over 10 yrs now.

But I must say, I'm very jealous of that massive gaming table you have…. WOW!

Cheers
Dean
