In case you haven't heard, past Fall IN director and enthusiastic HMGS volunteer Dan Murawski passed away today. I have no information about cause of death or funeral services, it's far to early. I'll miss Dan. He had a heart of gold and the enthusiasm of a small child, and was friendly to everybody he met.

It's not my place to add any more. Seek out his family for more details.

Dan was my friend, and I'll miss him a great deal. I don't like my friends to pass without some acknowledgement, and here is mine: link

Thank you for link and the kind words Walt. Dan has been a buddy of mine for many years since we met at Wally's Basement at the Host over a decade ago and we seem to have made trades every show we attended since. I've been sitting here thinking about something I would like to share as I'm not have good at this. Dan really was a great guy. He was one of the guys I always looked forward to seeing at the show. We kept in touch through the year but as you guys know it's not the same as sitting down with a buddy in person, having a drink at the bar and talking gaming. Those of you who knew Dan can attest that he was a wonderful person. We always shared a laugh, talked Star Wars, and StarFrontiers, and GammaWorld… well you get the picture. I am sadden to hear about his passing and know the Con scene will never be the same for me. Rest in Peace my friend and as I always ended our text messages- Game on. Your pal, -D.-

Dan was local to our store and had been coming around with his children for the last several years. Just saw him a few days before Christmas. :'( He will be missed.

Sad news. I knew him only in passing but a good guy and a real contributor to HMGS and the hobby.

One minor edit: it's not MY loss. It's the entire community's loss.

Sad news, indeed. Those of us who attended the cons he worked at, or ran, especially owe him a debt of gratitude. He will be missed. Deepest condolences to his family. :-(

We will all will miss Dan.

Worked with him for most of his Fall-Ins. He was way too young and I owed him some beers. He will be missed.

Thank you for the Link, Some good Pictures to remember him by. Prayers go out to his Family and Friends for this unexpected loss.

I just couldn't believe what I was reading…I am so saddened to hear about this. Dan was a super guy, friendly to everyone, and one of the fixtures of the HMGS East cons. He had way too many games ahead of him…I hope whatever it was, he went peacefully. There weren't many like Dan; we are poorer for his departing.

Porthos12 Jan 2022 4:33 a.m. PST

I'm very sorry to hear this. Mr Murawski will be remembered by me as the man who created the beautiful Napoleonic Polish figures.

RIP Dan and thank you for all that you have done for me and the hobby.

As the Fall-In Director and/or Events Coordinator, Dan was enthusiastic and hard-working (and sometimes did both jobs at the same convention!) I always enjoyed working side by side with him. There was nothing opaque about Dan – what you saw was what you got.

Last Tuesday, a fellow-volunteer for HMGS cons told me the news of Dan's death, and I just couldn't believe it. I hoped he must be mistaken, but I have yet to hear him say something that's not a fact, and it turns out to be true. 20+ years younger than I am, and Dan seemed indefatigable and indestructible. Done TOO SOON.

Mr. Nizz wrote about Dan: "he volunteered for me, which he was fond of telling me was a pivotal point for him in the society– he felt like he was accepted and appreciated." Well, Dan passed that gift on to me, another Dan(iel) who worked with him at a pivotal point and felt accepted and appreciated. That big heart again!

As the Old Civil War song says, "We shall meet, but we shall miss him. There will be one vacant chair." And few will be capable of filling that chair.

I only learned of his passing today. Dan was always racing around at the convention but would stop and talk when he saw you. I'm sad to hear of his passing and he will be missed. Rick
