I am new to the rule set but I have a question. What is the value of keeping a brigade in reserve either on or off table? I can't find any advantage to doing so other than just leaving the brigade where it is on the board or unless it's scenario driven. I feel like I'm missing something. I appreciate any help in advance. Hosting my first game next week.

You always need to have reserves to either exploit a hole in the enemy's line or plug one in yours.

Having never played the rules in question, I would say it is always better to have reserves on the table and hopefully have them in a position to be support wherever needed.

Col, I certainly understand in the real world military importance of reserves, but am trying to understand the rule significance. Why would I want to have a brigade an official reserve mode which requires extra activation versus just having the brigade sitting idle. I love the concept of stressing reserves I'm just trying to understand where it fits in the rules. I feel, again, as if I'm missing something.

Hello,
General D'Armee foresees for each committed Brigade to be assigned a position in the battle line. Essentially you need to declare where this brigade will be fighting respect to others.

The way I have interpreted the use of reserves is that by putting a brigade in reserve, you will declare its position only when you will commit it to battle.

To redeploy Brigades costs a lot in terms of ADCs and it may be convenient to hold some brigades in reserve, to commit where and when needed.

We have tried this mechanism in this game, it worked very nicely, felt historical !
