These may be clibinarii- it's not clear whether the Late Romans differentiated between cataphracts (fully armoured) & half armoured cavalry. Regardless, they will be a formidable unit in my Late Roman army theminiaturespage.com

@ rustymusket. I'd have to agree. Much of the primary source material was written by non-military types who don't seem to have a clue. Did the infantry wear armour? Were the legions and the auxillaries different? How good/bad were the Limitanei? Etc. |
