Happy New Year! We've come to the end of another The Pledge year. Last month TMP link
December was a great month for me despite being busy at work. I think a lot was because many of the figures finished had be worked on through out the preceding months. The French were started in April. The Chinese were painted and I was just waiting on some bases to arrive. The rest were ACW which are quick to paint. Strategic order timing will have new figures arriving early January:-)

December ended pretty well, despite the holiday hubbub. I did take advantage of some slaes this month, and Essex filled my ECW order unexpectedly fast, so it came in this week before the end of the month. Otherwise my numbers would have been better. Anyway here it is.

Bought
42 – 28mm Napoleonic French
55 – 28mm Napoleonic Brits and Spanish
30 – 28mm LOTR Orcs
24 – 28mm Silver Bayonet figs
362 – 15mm ECW

Painted
143 – 15mm Napoleonic Prussians
120 – 15mm War of the Roses
1 – 28mm Ice Queen
7 – 28mm Andalusian Horse

This month
Bought – 513
Painted – 271

For the Year
Bought – 2591
Painted – 2876
Net +285

Not too bad overall. I whittled the mountain down a bit, and the majority of purchases have ended up in the painted column, or will early 2022. I am hoping to hit 3000 figs next year, that should help me bring a couple large projects to a close.

This was not a positive month for me. Reaper traditionally tosses in lots of freebies if you place an order in early December, so I try to keep track of all the interesting Reaper stuff I see during the year and order then. I took a rather depressing trip back to my hometown, which actually had a store selling figures for the first time since the '80s, so I had to buy something. I also placed a small order with Crocodile Games which mainly consisted of accessories. So,
Reaper: 10 human size figures, 1 monster
GW LOTR Hobbits: 4 figures
Crocodile Games: 2 figures (plus the accessories)
Total: 16 human size figures, 1 monster

Not so bad, except only 2 figures got painted, both finished up on New Year's Eve. Pathetic!

Result: I added 14 figures more than I painted.

Still, for the year, I've purchased 207 figures, 17 horses, an artillery piece and a tank, and painted 234 figures, 3 horses, and a gun, so I am making progress in shrinking the heaps of unpainted figures. I also sold off 103 figures that I became convinced I'd never get painted.

Best guess, there are about 6700 unpainted figures lurking in the back of the closet.

Not a good month. I took advantage of some gift cards to make purchases and then I had a very good Christmas. To counter that just as I was starting to paint for myself, I caught Covid. Nothing serious but I slept for a week and half and have not had much ambition yet. Hopefully I will start painting again soon.

Considering I'm currently deployed, I've had a pretty good month.

48 x 28mm figures for my 1745 Jacobite Rebellion project, mostly Hessians from Fife and Drum, but some Crann Tara Lowlander command figures.

Just finished a Hessian mounted Colonel today.

I figure once I get back in March, we'll see what the rest of the year will look like.

Good luck on your projects!

Had a positive month and didn't wipe out a years work by making a very large December purchase like last year.

Bought
18 1/2400 ships from GHQ. I now have a WWII Italian Navy.
Painted
4 Norman HC
32 Saxon Inf
8 Macedonian Hypaspists

Total 44-18=26 + 307= 333YTD ending the year on a positive note.
I hope everyone has a healthy, prosperous and productive new year.

December, it was down to the wire what with Christmas etc, and being tempted by more Austrians when I'd just popped into Mr Models to buy paint. In the end basing the 7th Legere put me over the line.

Bought: 48 Austrian Infantry
Painted: 4 Guard foot artillerymen, 8 canon, 8 carabiniers

Based:
Guard Horse Arty Bty 2g, 8 crew
Guard Horse Arty Bty 2g, 8 crew
Guard Foot Artillery Bty 2g, 8 crew
Guard Foot Artillery Bty 2g, 8 crew
Italian Guard Foot Artillery Bty 2g, 8 crew
1er/ 7me Legere 24
2me/ 7me Legere 24
General de Bde 5

Total based = 103
MTD= +103 -48 = +55
2021 YTD = +514
Based = 929; Sold = 60; Bought = 475

Not too shabby, beat my 500 goal just. Of course mostly just finishing and basing, but there's plenty more to do in 2022.

January should see me basing up 3 battalions of French line, then painting a couple of dozen Swiss figures and finishing and basing 3 Swiss battalions. If I get that far then a couple of batteries will finish the division.
