I recently purchased several GHQ 1/2400 scale model kits for Gnevny class (Project 7) and Storozhevoy (Type 7U) class destroyers and I don't have any good references for accurate WW2 Russian naval camouflage schemes. Does anyone have any good website references or book references that can point me in the right direction for possible camouflage schemes? I did read that some Russian destroyers used in convoy duties wore allied naval camouflage schemes, but I can't seem to find any pictures or specific references. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you can find it, "The Painter's Guide to World War Two Naval Camouflage," (Clash of Arms Games) has 1.5 pages and 4 diagrams on the Soviet WW2 fleet.

Here is one from Abe books:

Thanks NC1717 for the reply. I actually have a copy of the Painter's Guide, however, only two camouflage designs for Project 7 destroyers are listed. I'm still looking for other examples or references. I'm having a heck of a time trying to find photos, color plates or other evidence of cameo patterns used in convoy duties and Baltic and Northern fleet ships for the Russian navy. If you or others know of any other reference books or websites, please let me know. Thank you.

Mal Wright has worked up several pages of Soviet camo schemes in colour which I think are posted in his Facebook group

From here, I went through about the first 30 pages so there should be more.

Awesome photos of Russian WW2 camo! Thanks machinehead!

I'm going to try to save them and print them for painting guides.

David Manley,
You mentioned checking out Mal Wright's facebook account for Russian camo examples, but I don't have a facebook account and can't seem to find anything in my searches. Is there another way to find Mal's postings?

Thanks again for the help!

There were quite a few photos of smaller ships and a few battleships and cruisers in camo on that site too.

Wish I new how to read Russian. That would help a ton on some of the websites. Thank you very much for the help.
