I got given a copy of Jim Storr's Battlegroup! link for Christmas, a book which examines the tactical premises of the forces involved in the Cold War. Very interesting reading, but what I hadn't appreciated before I read it is how much the author link used wargames (playing WRG 1950-1985 rules) to help analyse many aspects of the conflict. Anyway, well worth a look for those interested in conventional modern warfare at the company-division levels: there is a lot to think about in there, although unsurprisingly many of the conclusions were foreshadowed in Human Face of War and/or Hall of Mirrors. |
