At the end of October, Swedish band Sabaton released this impressively produced music video (duration 8 min 39 s) dedicated to the memory of Christmas Truce that took place in the Western Front back in WWI (TMP logo today also shares the theme). The video can be found in YouTube at: YouTube link If you have not seen it before, today might be a very good day to watch it. For those not familiar with them, central themes of Sabaton's music tend are history, horrors and heroism of war. Their music might be a bit on the heavy side for many TMP readers, but this one is from the softer end of the spectrum. Still, if you do not enjoy the music, it might be worth watching the video with the sound turned off for the impressive visual spectacle itself. According to the end credits, the video has been filmed in a trench set build in a location in the Czech Republic, and most of the soldiers appearing in the video are played by locals – though the five band members, dressed up as WWI soldiers, also have roles. "And today we're all brothers Tonight we're all friends A moment of peace in a war that never ends" |

As an addendum, yesterday they also released a longer documentary about the actual historical events that inspired the song: YouTube link |

Sabaton rocks! Literally. The Winged Hussars, Carolus Rex, The Last Stand are some of my favorites. |

Saw them last month opening for Judas Priest. A great stage presence. Carolus Rex in live was great! |

Personally, I enjoy a lot of their music, but I find their WWI material the most touching: Angels Calling, Cliffs of Gallipoli, The Price of a Mile, To Your Last Dying Breath and the whole Great War album. And now this Christmas Truce. If I have understood corretly, their next album The War to End all Wars, to be released in 2022, will continue with WWI theme. |

My son introduced me to them a couple of years ago. I quite like them! |
