Sometimes you just shake your head, put it between your knees and kiss your you know what goodbye.

How on Earth….or is that Hoth, did this happen? I've played this game four or five times. That's about [RRP] £200.00 GBP a game.

There's a great sequence in the movie "In Harm's Way," where 2 navy officers, one an old salt Captain, and the other, a Naval Reserve Commander, ex movie director, are talking.

"Rockwell, my boy, never, ever marry a movie actress."

"Why not, you did it three times."

"It was like eating peanuts…Once I started, I couldn't stop."

There you go.

I've got a nearly full closet of Blood and Plunder and have played 2 con games and 2 demo games. Tho, I was on the verge of participating in a FLGS right when Covid hit.

Well, if it's any consolation, I have 5 times that amount of ships and have only played 3 games. It happens from time to time.

It is kind of like that with my SYW collection – stared with a few Prussian figs and now I have five armies, with the smallest one being 18 regiments strong – although, to be fair, I do game with them a lot

I also have about 6 regiments of ECW foote and 5 of horse that have never seen a table top, not even once

" Unlike figures, which you need to paint and base before you can use them, X-Wing models provide instant 'ready painted / ready to go' gratification;"

Probably why this game never really attracted me.

Indeed. I'm the same with my other stuff – I feel I get value from them all.

As you know Frederick (my son's middle name BTW, his first is Alexander) I have three large SYW armies, and a large Punic Wars, Italian Wars, Napoleonic, 1941 and Crusades collection. All pretty well painted, I might add.

Example, Austrian SYW:

I have done the same. I took an inventory about a month ago. If I recall, I have about 15 regular TIE fighters.
I have played quite a few games with friends, some more at a couple of shops, and was the punching bag in a tournament. I really enjoy the game(first edition). However; I love the miniatures and I view them as almost as "historicals". I intend to use the miniatures as good models for large multiplayer games. I have played in one multiplayer game at a convention, and run two more myself.
Great stuff

Years ago when I got to about 3000 28mm Napoleonic figures I decided that I wanted to try them in a different scale so I sold them and then when I had about 4000 figures in that new scale I sold them and then when I tried them in a third scale I got to about 3000 figures and I sold them and then I blinked and suddenly I'm back to 5000 28 mm figures.

That's all you have…There is so much more possible if you just try harder

"How, after only five games (4?) did I get here?"

But, you don't have a Death Star yet…! ;-)

Hah! I bought a whole lot of Star Was Armada stuff and I've only ever played one game. And I don't sell them because any visiting children love them. So I guess that's a win.

It's not just us. A few years ago I met a man who collected chess sets. About 15 sets bin his living room and wall the ceiling full shelves in his family room with uncounted more in a side room. When I ask him about playing, he said that he had only played three game in his entire life.
