Hi guys, looking for your help as usual.

I'm thinking of doing some small Bolt Action games to learn the rules. I'd like to do some battles with the Japanese on defense.

What I'm looking for I'd a good selection of island appropriate defensive positions.

In particular log bunkers, camouflaged positions, bolt holes & the occasional gun position or concrete bunker.

I know companies like Warlord make 1 or 2 pieces but I was hoping there might be a company that has a whole line of these.

Thanks for any help.

Happy holidays.

This is the sort of thing that screams for home made.

Get blue or pink insulation board and a foam cutter. Establish a 2 sheet thick base. That'd be deep enuf to foam cut spider holes. Dowel pins and putty make log bunkers with mdf lids. Check out Amazon for Darice coasters. They're very thin and super strong.

Build up the insulation layers as needed. Very little for Tarawa. Very tall for Guadalcanal. Then hit ebay for cheap foliage from China, or hope Michael's is having an end of season sale.

A hunt on the web will turn up gobs of detailed studies on Japanese island defenses, including photos, sketches, construction diagrams, etc of everything from spiderholes and MG emplacements to pill boxes, coastal defense gun emplacements and senior command bunkers. A good start would be to search for "Betio" or "Tarawa" @ the CARL Library.

Also check out the book – "Hold the Marianas: The Japanese Defense of the Mariana Islands" by D Colt Denfeld. Very good selection of photos of Japanese defenses on a larger island with more varied terrain.

FWIW.
