Tremble, dear reader, as it has once again come to that time of year when you are called to confess. Called to confess your most foul, heinous and wicked gaming crimes. Adding to that ever expanding catalogue of despicable deeds carried out by fallen and wretched gamers.

Last year's crop of disturbing incidents serves as a clear warning to always be on your guard, lest ye too fall from grace. These tales of tortured testament can be found here: TMP link

By confessing your sins, you can also beg your fellow TMPs for forgiveness. But if they think a heinous crime has been committed, then you must accept their (novel and humorous) punishment. A punishment most that is also most befitting of your terrible crimes.

- Are your English Civil War infantry units carrying pikes not painted to the same shade as their real counterparts? Confess!
- If playing a scenario set in winter are you happy to use troops still attired in summer uniforms? Confess!
- Do you think it is perfectly acceptable to interchange Lee and Grant tanks? Confess!
- Have you ever thought to yourself, "Wow, I'm so glad that rules lawyer intervened in our game. It really helped with the flow of the scenario."? Confess!

Confess you gaming crimes. Confess them now! Our representatives are standing by. Your confession is important to us.

Ezza: A+ for execution on what should have been a simple sentence or two!

I once painted the epaulettes, cords, beavers, horse furniture etc of a unit of Grenadiers a Cheval with a shade of aurore that was a bit too orange. Absolute heresy.

I once tried modeling Napoleonic Nassau infantry using out of production Minifigs Second Generation figs. I couldn't get hold of any elite figures, so I got some Hussars and did Busby head swaps.

Unfortunately, once done, the bag was on the wrong side.

I know, inexcusable.

In my impious and ignorant youth many, many decades ago, I once painted Airfix French Napoleonic Infantry as.. as… 1812 Confederation of the Rhine! I know, I know. My sins are many and heinous. Unforgivable but please, please consider, it was the 1970's! We were young and knew no better.

Forgiveness, I beg of you! Forgiveness!

I have too much unpainted lead. I tell myself and my wife that I need more figures to complete planned projects…knowing that I have to live another 54 years to paint everything….if I stop buying figures now….I need an intervention.

Does using Napoleonic French infantry as Mexican infantry at the Alamo count? 'cause I think it does

huron725 Supporting Member of TMP13 Dec 2021 7:24 a.m. PST

When I first started out painting WW2 Germans (1/72 scale Airfix, I think) I painted their uniforms….gray! Once I learned they were various shades of green I went back and repainted them saving me any continued embarrassment.

But that was 35+ years ago.

I have received replacement ship models from the manufacturer for models with broken and missing masts and bowsprits, but I'm also using toothpicks and bamboo skewers to build replacement masts for the original ships, giving me a bigger fleet for free. Alas, I feel no regret whatsoever.

I just fought the Battle of Leipzig (sort of) using SYW armies and what's worse comingled Eastern and Western forces. Specifically Prussian and English/Hanoverian defending against Russian, Austrian and French. Oh, the horror. (It was a damned fun game though! :P )

I ran the Battle of Short Hills, NJ with Imperial and Rebel figures from a milieu other than the AWI …

I confess, I've never liked Napoleonic games.

evilgong13 Dec 2021 2:16 p.m. PST

No much from me this year, too much time spent in lockdown to dabble in any interesting sins.

About the best I can confess is making up 25mm Aztecs where I decided shields, uniforms and back-banners would be chosen in a mix for visual impact rather than historical accuracy.

(It's not much of a sin because there is enough variation and uncertainty about such things I'm probably not wrong anyway.)

Timbo W13 Dec 2021 2:23 p.m. PST

One of the wheels on a French Napoleonic horse artillery gun in stuck on the wrong way round. I'm not fixing it, just hoping nobody notices, filthy degenerate sinner that I am.

JMcCarroll13 Dec 2021 6:53 p.m. PST

I bought rubber dice, just so I could throw them when they went "bad".

JMcCarroll13 Dec 2021 6:54 p.m. PST

Cardinal Ximenez I bet nobody was expecting it.

Bashytubits14 Dec 2021 3:22 a.m. PST

I attacked some successor war elephants with camel mounted barbarians and ran them off, the other side was seriously traumatized by this blasphemous act.

I just finished a unit of Hospitaller knights from around 1200. I painted the barding black even though it was probably white in the middle east for obvious reasons. But I like the way the black looks.

SpuriousMilius14 Dec 2021 10:13 a.m. PST

I artfully adapted 1st ed. Boothill, Pig Wars, & Mordheim for other genres & eras (especially Barsoom, Tarzan, & Sword & Pistol skirmish) because I know the rules well, I like the mechanisms of play & no specific rulesets were available. These days I rely on THW which cover all of these periods.

Chimpy14 Dec 2021 2:42 p.m. PST

I just painted a unit of War of Spanish Succession French Dragoons (La Reine) with blue saddle cloths instead of red. The information that I had suggested red but in the 1740's they had blue so I went with that because it looked better. Let the flogging commence..

KSmyth15 Dec 2021 5:52 p.m. PST

More of a thought crime than anything, but I'd like to adapt the Regimental Fire and Fury fire and movement models to the Hundred Years War. Twisted, I know, but it might work.

COL Scott ret15 Dec 2021 11:55 p.m. PST

I will have "imaginNations" armies fight versus "same period" historical armies. I feel no guilt – I let players know and they don't seem to care either.

14Bore18 Dec 2021 4:55 p.m. PST

My 1812 Russians fight my 1813/14 Prussians, but at least do it in 1759 battles
