I shall never understand the appeal of tea. |

I grew up having tea with breakfast and 'Tea'- our evening meal. I still go through phases when I like tea, but coffee is my staple. |

Coffee…BLECH I've been drinking Tea for the past 42 years, several different types, but mainly: Yorkshire, Earl Grey & various versions of Chai, all high quality stuff (Stash brand). During the summer, it's mainly Yorkshire just for the fact that it's too HOT in SoFla to really enjoy the other teas, except on occasion, but once the Humidity Festival ends, it's off to the races with the other teas, one of my fave pastimes is to go outside and read early in the AM with my Mug O' Tea at my side. I also have scones almost daily, Publix makes damn good ones in both Blueberry and Cranberry Orange, Fresh Market has some good ones also (as long as you know which ones to get). Especially these days, it's wonderful to go outside and have a relaxing Mug O' Tea or two and some scones, while reading a book, an added benefit being that I live on cul de sac, so there is almost no traffic to speak of. I've also gotten into (powdered) Ginger tea, helped along with Saigon cinnamon and a Citron/Ginger tea jelly that gives it an additional kick in the Butte'. |

I am fond of them although in moderation Also never picked up the taste of coffee – life long tea drinker (the British Empire was built on cups of tea!) |

Actually, Bill, 34% of respondents discussed how they ate scones and only 27% said they didn't eat them. And since you had no provision for those of us who didn't put anything on their scones, I was left out of the count altogether. Yes, of course I can bake them myself, Herkybird. And then I have six of twelve of something I should only be eating at rare intervals. Bad enough when I fix a pot of chili and have signed on for four meals with chili in the next week. Same problem with muffins. Scones when the local Starbucks offers them is still more than my VA health care team would approve of. Of course, there is also the knowledge that I am unlikely to taste Red Leicester cheese in this life. Life has its sadness and disappointments. |

Coffee is just a delivery mechanism for sugar and cream. Tea is completely different in that it is a delivery mechanism for sugar. |

@rppb: I divide one scone into two thin disks/discs. Jam spread sparingly topped with clotted cream. You get two goes! PS Also do this with burger patties – cheese on one and bacon on t'other.
PPS Yer nevah alone with a scone, however, we gave away the Stone of Scone too soon! |

Utah has lots of Scones. In Indiana we call them elephant ears and eat them with butter and cinnamon sugar. |

There is a school of thought that in Cornwall, they put the jam on first and then the cream, whereas in Devon, it's the cream first, them the jam. Just one of the differences between the two counties ( we wont go into pasty wars here….) The other issue is that often scones served with jam and cream include just whipped or thick cream. This is a heinous crime as scones should be served with clotted cream. Clotted cream can be spread like butter. So much so, that when I was growing up ( in Devon) we often had bread spread with cream and then jam for our 'afters' on Sunday. |

I tend to put jam on first then clotted cream but my real favourite scone (pronounced like moan) is cheese and the best were marks and spencers spread heavily with butter. |

I enjoy tea, coffee, and scones. Because I'm an uncouth, but open-minded, American*. *whose English mother tried to drown me in tea when I was young |
