Good tale. I started with Heritage and Minifig ACW and Napoleonics. Martian Metals for Traveller soon followed (1978+)

Interesting post! I am stunned you are pretty much done with buying and painting figs. I cannot see myself ever doing both.

I started with Custom Cast Lord of the Rings figs in the mid 70's. Then it was ACW, Naps and Ancients. I also started to slide into 1866 and 1870. Good times!

Thanks

John

I have painted thousands upon thousands over the decades. Unless I can display them I just see no point in creating massive armies anymore. I already have eight massive fantasy armies painted and more 15mm sci fi than I ever thought possible.

I will continue to paint the occasional piece for family members for Christmas gifts. The occasional diorama. They like that.

Thanks for sharing your story.

It is indeed interesting.

That was a good read, and parallels my own experience. Thanks for sharing!

Parallels my experience as well. I was hugely inspired by tomorrow's war, space jacker, alien squad leader. But your painting and figure count are both leagues ahead of me. Maybe there is hope for my painting…

Thanks for reading fellas. There is always hope. When I started I sucked. I started to get better when I treated 15mm the same as 28mm. Results improved almost instantly.

I am very focused when painting. Having a WIP pile bothers me greatly. It's a compulsion to get things done.

Curiously, Spacejacker moved to Canada and now lives about an hour away from me. :-)

Hey that's cool, I went to read something again on Tiny Solitary Soldiers about a month ago, and the blog was removed by blogspot. It was sad to think all of that inspiration was lost.

Yeah. I would imagine you can use the Wayback Machine to access some of it possibly. The blog got infested with spam as well; SJ took it down himself I do believe. He sold or gave away most of his Collection to friends. He had a new blog but it is not really focused on 15mm it Sci fi.
