When necessary. I've also been known, on occasion, to scratchbuild.

Not that often, but when I do, I have surgical skills….well maybe the skills of a quack…but they look good to me😎

Is it a conversion if you take arms, heads, and weapons from another set or manufacturer?

I call that "kitbashing", which could be considered a form of conversion.

I do a fair bit – here are some early efforts which are to be honest more kitbashing than converting

Well, conversions are a way to build your figures, either because you aren't satisfied with the original or simply doesn't exist on the market. Now, with all these spare parts that are on sale on line, a modeler has his hobby really simplified, there are sites as Pig Iron, or Anvil Industry that really offers an incredible array of spare parts

Does adding plumes and reshaping overalls to look like britches and boots, in order to change 15mm Crimean British cavalry to 1890s home service uniforms count as conversions?
