I have a copy of The War Game Rules by C S Grant and just wondered if I need the The War Game Companion as well? By that I mean is it worthwhile getting it? |

It is one of CSG's best books. It provides a lot of the "story" behind The War Game book. I recommend the book. |

Its a good book, I go back and read parts of it every few months. |

Agree with the above, it's a great little supplement with some interesting clips on the time period the game was fought and the book came out. |

Whilst I agree with the comments, it is perfectly possible to enjoy The War Game and use the rules therein without possessing the War Game Companion (which I have) so one does not 'need' it. |

I still frequently browse through Grant's Scenarios for Wargames and Programmed Wargames Scenarios. |

I would just add a word of caution to the above. I bought the Companion because I wanted siege rules and sieges was one of the items apparently included but was disappointed to find no rules just discussion. So if you want to, as described above, read more deeply into the ‘story' and get more of that ‘old-school' feel then go ahead. If you're looking for a complementary rule set don't. |

Thanks, I don't mind if it's just background reading – I went ahead and bought a copy. |
