Thank you for these wonderful articles about battles that are little-known in the West. It's a fascinating period. Thank goodness Old Glory had the foresight to put out a wonderful range of figures for the Ottoman wars. |

Nice one. Though its hard to believe the citation comes from Richelieu, as the French, starting with Francis I around 1530, were usually allied with the Ottomans against the rest of Europe, especially the Habsburgs. If "civilization" had fallen in 1566, France would bear its share of responsibility, so I am not sure wether this is correctly attributed. |
