Does anyone have a preferred book that covers the Austrian-Russian Front in 1914?

Prit Buttar. Collision of Empires: The War on the Eastern Front in 1914 link

Wawro. A Mad Catastrophe: The Outbreak of World War I and the Collapse of the Habsburg Empire link

Both excellent works. The second is hard reading, as the incredible incompetence on both sides was nothing less than mass murder.

I'll second the Buttar and Wawro books. Both are excellent indeed.
Also, I haven't read but it is on my list: The Fortress: The Siege of Przemysl and the Making of Europe's Bloodlands by Alexander Watson.

I'll third the Buttar books and add "The Fortress" by Alexander Watson…

The Austro-Hungarian official history of the war has been translated into English and is available online, accompanied by superb maps. An excellent resource for more details.

Another recommendation for Pritt Buttars series of Eastern Front histories.

Re "Collision of Empires", I've added it to my Amazon list, thank you.

I will second Senator Blutarski's nomination of Stone's book- as a combination of history and analysis, it's the best treatment I have seen of the subject.

Monk, do you have a link? I assume they translated the title literally ("Austria-Hungary's Last War")?
