Bacause this question is in the Biplane section, you are looking for air rules WW1, right? I am only dabbling in the theme, so Wings of War/Glory. |

Seven days to the Rhine. It's got planes in it, not that we use them. Well, barely. One event card……. |

Colorful Skies – W.W. I variant for "Check Your Six". If we are talking about Great War air rules. Just played a game on Saturday, RFC got it rear handed to it. I couldn't make a die roll in that game and the Huns couldn't miss. |

Since we only game with my biplanes infrequently, we use Wings of War/Wings of Glory rules. They are simple enough that we can go weeks between games but are a fun set to use. Jim |

Yes, Dogfighting only. Sorry for any confusion. |

I've played more Wings of War/Glory than Canvas Eagles but I prefer Canvas Eagles for dogfighting. |

WoW/WoG scratches my flying itch. I am a very occasional player and I don't need anything more complicated. |

Anyone using 1:72 planes like in the olden days? |

I've played so much CY6, I'd probably find Colorful Skies my favorite these days. I played Canvas Eagles once years ago and remember enjoying it. It looks so similar to CY6 I don't see why I wouldn't. I guess the hit tracking is a little more onerous, so maybe not as much. I also enjoy Fly Or Die about once a year (run by a local gamer for his birthday), but it's so far out of print you might need to learn cuneiform to understand it. - Ix |

I have the MSD 1/300 aircraft and 1/72 model ones. I use or plan to use Canvas Eagles, WOG and just picked up Colorful skies. I also printed off Nick Y's Blue Skies, Wood and Canvas. I meant to get in a game of them at Cincycon but didn't have a chance. Thanks John |

I prefer the old Paragon rules |

I prefer the old Paragon rules as well. I don't like the pre-plotting of Canvas Eagles or CY6 and prefer a more natural flowing movement system. |

+1 Oddball. "Colorful Skies" is a very well done retro-adaptation of CY6. As a long-time PC flight simmer (anyone here remember Red Baron Delphi Forum from the 90s?), I was extremely skeptical of being able to produce a satisfying table-top aerial sim. But I was highly impressed after playing several games at HCon. It's not "F16 Fighting Falcon" in terms of pace, immersion and flight models, but it is fast-paced, rewards good historical tactics and provides sufficient differentiation among varying flight models/characteristics. A Blutarski thumbs up. B |

Wings at War: Duel of Aces, from Tumbling Dice. Played a very enjoyable 1917 campaign with my lad using the rules, which could easily handle a dozen or so aeroplanes on the table. Nick |
