I know this topic has been rehashed a number of times and the previous TMP articles were really useful, but I have a couple of questions that google couldn't help me answer, that I'm hoping the hive brain of TMP can help with. For US cavalry options There seem to be the following manufacturers – QRF, Peter Pig, Minifigs, Hovels, irregular and OldGlory (Bluemoon). I understand QRF, Peter Pig, Minifigs and Hovels are compatible and will mix together. I have seen mixes of P.Pig with either Minifigs or QRF and these looked fine, but I can't find any pictures of the Hovels Dismounted US Cavalry range if some has some pictures they can share? It's also mentioned in these previous articles that Irregular and Old Glory are much bigger than the other manufacturers, but does anyone know if OG and Irregular mix well together? Perhaps unnecessary as the Old Glory range is extensive, but if they do mix well, be worth having the extra variety. Thanks for any input and photos you can share. Ideally photos of Hovels dismounted US cavalry range and a comparison of Irregular and OG would be an ideal outcome, but appreciate that's asking a lot. Cheers Chris |

I can't tell you about the Hovel US ranges but their Native American ranges are smaller than both the QRF & Irregular ranges. I'd happily use them on the same table but probably in separate units. |

This was my pandemic project! Every figure needed to play the big game in Pony Wars. Most of the figures are from the excellent Blue Moon line supplemented with figures from every company making Plains Wars figures in 15mm. Blue Moon are a bit larger so I just based the smaller figures on taller bases snd they look fine! A shout-out to Minifigs as their Plains War mounted chieftains are gorgeous. link link link link |

Hoka Hey! As ever, beautifully done, Sir. The Plains Wars done in the grand scale. Somewhere, C.B. DeMille is smiling… TVAG |

Yeah, I own Hovels, QRF, Blue Moon, Frontier, Minifigs and some others. I mount an extra washer on the smaller figs as the heft an all of them is similar. Height you can disguise. Heft is hard too. Thanks John |

Rdfraf, that's one fine looking game. |

Rdfraf, Fine looking indeed. My only suggestion would be, that since the vast majority of your gaming table terrain is a light green, that you paint he bases of your figures that same green, this to make those bases less obtrusive. |

Rdfraf, Absolutely stunning terrain & figs! Are you using the Pony Wars rules straight up, or with modifications? |

Thanks for the compliments! You need almost every manufacturer of 15mm Plains War to get everything. Peter Pig, Blue Moon, Hovels, QRF, Minifigs, Stone Mountain, Irregular as well as some HO items for different wagons and accessories. The terrain mat is actually a light brown but. It's not quite exactly what I wanted. I'm having a hard time finding a 6 x 8 or 5 x 8 mottled arid, western type mat in that size. 4 x 6 is too small. As for rules. we decide to use Sword and the Flame for movement, firing and morale. We also added a few new cards into the mix as well. Overall, the game is amazing fun with disasters waiting with every turn of card. |

Rdfraf, thanks for sharing your photos. They are very inspirational! I have been wondering about using the creaky chart based rules, so your idea of using TSATF is very appealing. |
