As a Texan, I recommend keeping the idiocy in one state to avoid it spreading.

IIRC, when Texas was admitted to the Union, it was with the proviso that it could later be divided into as many as 6 states. Under what circumstances, I don't know -- presumably with the approval of the state government and the voters.
