Got a refund and a cancellation email for my subscription to WI, and was wondering if anyone else has gotten this? |

So, $220 USD annually…$18 per magazine?!?!? I don't think so. I just cancelled my digital subscription to change it to the hard copy…I guess WI is off my wish list. |

At the link, it states $160 USD for an annual subscription. |

I discovered my local Barnes and Nobel carry them at $11.50 USD an issue |

Yikes. And this is where I would be saying "goodbye" to my subscription desires for WI…. They're priced themselves out of my budget. |

The biggest problem with any magazine subscription, for me anyway, is that some issues have little or even nothing of interest (ie an issue that is almost exclusively Napoleonic has very little chance of me buying it). So long as I can get to a newsagent that stocks them, or there's an online newsagent that sells single issues, I can pick whether I buy an issue or not. It works in reverse too. US magazines are occasionally quite pricey here in the UK, although I don't recall seeing that big a hike. |

WI is a fine magazine, but it focuses solely upon Warlord Games product line. Understandable, as Warlord Games owns WI. They publish some very good stuff. BUT……….. If you are interested in what I believe to be the FINEST wargame magazine currently published try: WARGAMES, SOLDIERS & STRATEGY link Covers all periods, different rules and manufacturers. and a hard copy subscription for a year is: $55 USD (40 pounds) – 6 issues or $6.66 USD per issue. They also offer digital and other options. No, I don't work for them. link |

Thanks Oddball. Not quite sure about your math there though. I stopped receiving wargame magazines a long time ago. Just not enough content that interests me for the price. At one time it was the only way to know about new product (other than going to a large convention), but that benefit is now gone. |

The math above is strange, I was trying to do it while converting from British Pounds to US Dollars and dividing by number of issues. Without going through it all again, it must have been 6.66 POUNDS, not dollars per issue. Anyway, my favorite magazine. |

You're wrong Oddball. WI isn't owned by Warlord Games. It's owned solely by Daniel Falcounbridge, the editor, who bought it outright from Battlefront a number of years ago. I'm not going to argue about the Warlord content in the mag, or the sub prices, but I have to say Guy from WSS is up at Warlord taking photographs, playtesting and taking interview an awful lot. I would suggest the volume of Warlord content in both mags is due to their place in the hobby rather than any secret ownership. (How do I know? 'Cus Guy pops into see us for a cuppa and to borrow various figures to photograph when he's up. Which is nice). What is a fact is Warlord buy magazines from WI to distribute to hobby shops, taking over from the role Battlefront had both when they owned the mag and for a period after. So I buy my copies from Warlord not WI. It's just about distribution and 'routes to market'. |

My mistake, I had been informed (via online or word of mouth) that WI was owned by Warlords. I have now been corrected. WI is a fine magazine, I've had subscriptions in the past. I am sorry that it is experiencing problems with mail distribution, seems many are effected by the change. My purchases from Britain have dramatically dropped off due to shipping costs. I'm not surprised that WSS staff is at Warlords, the magazine covers their products very well and Warlords produces the highest quality items (I have MANY of their items, some would add the word "too" in front of many). |

The original WI – before Battlefront acquired it – was regularly "accused" of favouring this manufacturer over that. Connoisseur, Wargames Foundry, how many others? I bet if I went through my back issues I could find a few more in the "Letters to the Editor". :-) |
