hi all, I'm working on a little diorama of the wreck of the Whydah Galley off Cape Cod. I'll have a small section of the ship with splinters, supplies, rigging and 1/72 pirates sinking into the water in a clear container I'm using. There's a bit of a sand bar climbing one corner of the container, which leaves a large section of sand visaable from outside the container. I was thinking burying some fossils in there would be cool. im also looking to populate the water with some sea life. I'm having very little luck in either department. Hence, does anyone know of 1/72 models of sea life or fossils (whale skeleton? Mastodon?) to help liven up this diorama? Plastic or otherwise affordable is preferable. I've also considered making my own fossils from painted toothpicks, anyone tried this or have tips or ideas? Thanks, and I look forward to any and all suggestions. |

There exist model kits of animal skeletons. I'll bet you can find them online. |

MSD makes sea life for their Thunderball line: link Things like:
Most have holes to mount on poles, but that could be filled in. Model railroad vendors might have 1/87 (HO) scale sea life, such as fish, where scale would not matter much. link For bones, there are some expensive dino bone kits: link Like:
There are some "toys" like this: link of unknown scale to me:
But even random bones of what ever scale might add interest. |
