Yes, an old idea you have re-invented. My group were using pipe cleaners about 30 or 40 years ago and still do. |

Yes, it is an old idea, cheap, fast and looks good. Sometimes others make smoke markers in a way that is more complicated than it needs to be with same or worse results and I've seen smoke markers from plastic or resin that do not look good at all and/or are crazy expensive. |

I used pieces of cotton pulled into shape and given a light spray of black … Made bunches of them. Based on my old wargame experiences with AH's Panzerblitz, etc., we leave KO'd vehicles on the board. Put a piece cotton that I sprayed light black on or near the vehicle. As it will block LOS, etc. And even can be used as cover by other vehicles. A pretty realistic rule, IMO … |

I also like to turn the destroyed vehicles upside down |

Nice use of the material. I use polyester batting for smoke effects, but for smoke coming out of a chimney or smokestack, the pipe cleaner is probably the better choice. |

Thank you! Excellent idea – pipe cleaners for smoke coming out of a chimney! This reminds me of a nice project I've seen, of representing a house on fire and engulfed in smoke. I have to try this too… |
