Citing rising metal prices. One wonders if this going to affect Old Glory prices across the board?

Sash and Saber are giving customers a heads up until the end of November to get their orders in before the price rise. Time to finish off my ACW collection.

One wonders if other minis merchants will also raise prices by this much?

Wackmole904 Nov 2021 8:36 a.m. PST

Well let see. No new Mineral/Metal extraction going on in US. Supply chain problem, and foreign supplier who don't like us.

WarWizard04 Nov 2021 9:04 a.m. PST

I don't see any info on their website about price increase or ordering deadlines. What page is that on?

WarWizard: it's on their FB Page:

"Unfortunately due the rising cost of metal, we're going to have to increase prices — roughly 30 – 40% on most packs. The standard $14.50 USD packs will be $20. USD The increase will occur at the end of November. I just wanted to let everyone know about it so purchases can be made at the current prices before the price hike. Sash and Saber has only had one price rise in twenty years of doing business and that was 10 years ago."

With the rising cost of shipping, this is meaning the hobby is now into a visible point on your budgets. Yikes.

Ouch. Maybe I should start that 40mm project now.

79thPA….I think that is the correct panicked reaction….

I see tin has almost doubled in price since January so it must be having a real impact on the production costs. Lead is up about 25% as well. I'd be curious about how much the price of metal contributes to the total cost of production.

chrisminiaturefigs04 Nov 2021 12:40 p.m. PST

Yes Augustus, shipping and metal prices are getting somewhat heavy.

Dave, the smart money would be to realize that I don't need to sink hundreds of dollars into a project that won't come to fruition, but that hasn't stopped me from pulling some Ospreys off the shelf.

It is not just the cost of metal, but the other parts of the manufacturing process.

Natural gas, which heats the furnace pot is projected to have a triple digit increase this winter(gas and oil exploration have been pretty much shut down, because green will supply everything).

Packaging, which uses petroleum products has been going up as well.

Plus, you have to factor in inflation too.

Stone Mountain hit the nail on the head. Virtually everything is soaring -- as should have been expected?
Very worrisome ???

I wonder why the notice is on their FB page and not on their website?

Edit to add that it will be up soon. Maybe they were giving their FB followers the first heads-up.

I wonder why the notice is on their FB page and not on their website?

Well, the person who couldve answered some of those questions and others was here and left.

I thought Old Glory and Sash and Saber were related? Are Old Glory's prices going up soon?

It's not that worrisome to me, if the prices go up too much, Ill just stop buying miniatures.

The person who manages our website will post the notice soon. I post notices and announcements often on our FB page -- you can view the page without a Facebook account. Like most businesses, our FB page is public and open. Although you would have to have a FB account to post a comment, anyone can view the comments.

I regret that we are having to raise prices, but we have historically been on the low end of figure pricing for years. The rise of metal prices has given us no choice if we want to continue producing figures. Our price increase will be consistent with other manufacturers' pricing.

79thPA….."smart money"…..YOU'RE A GAMER MAN!

coopman05 Nov 2021 4:37 p.m. PST

Peter Dennis' paper soldier books are looking like a better option every day.

Au pas de Charge05 Nov 2021 5:52 p.m. PST

Well, I respect the fact that Chris is giving people a month to get their orders in and I will get an order in.

More than wanting an explanation about why prices are going up, I wondered more if Old Glory is also raising prices?

Au pas, I always feel that no response means yes. But I understand the situation. Plastics will increase as well.

Rapid inflation is like getting a big pay cut. :-(

Chris and Russ are very good venders and respect their customers.

Just ordered all the 28mm Austrian infantry I will EVER need. :)

Mebbe so but they also dont finish many of their figure lines or make people wait for long lengths of time to release necessary items. Could be a planning problem.

"Mebbe so but they also dont finish many of their figure lines or make people wait for long lengths of time to release necessary items. Could be a planning problem."

What does that statement have to do with this price increase thread? And as an aside most if not all figure manufactures have that same issue.

I dont know that it has that much to do with the original questions for the thread. It was more of a reply to your statement below.

It is astonishing that you would ask what my statement has to do with the thread when it is a response to what you yourself asserted.

And as an aside most if not all figure manufactures have that same issue.

Not only is this irrelevant but it appears to justify apathy and irresponsibility on the part of miniatures merchants which is something customers do not have to tolerate.

I placed my fill in order over the weekend. Chris wrote back within a few hours letting me know the order was in house.

Well … there were two questions in the original post. The first was asking if there was an increase from Old Glory. And the second was about whether or not other manufacturers will do the same.

So far, no increase from Old Glory. As to others, that's a fairly wide open question, and then followed in your next post about not being that worried while saying you'd stop buying miniatures if they prices go up too much. And then the comment or complaint about not filling out their lines as being perhaps a planning issue, after another mentions respect for their customers, so that escalated quickly.

It's probably less than realistic to think that miniature manufacturers can fully fill out a number of different eras. It's probably not about apathy nor irresponsibility, suspect there's much more going on with the various manufacturers' choices than that. I won't deny planning might be one of the issues for some, although that probably isn't the only factor that could be involved.

Regardless … Sash & Saber put out notification of the need to increase prices after years of being a reasonable cost for well sculpted lines, I haven't seen an increase in at least 10, probably 15 or more. It seems like it is inflation at work, and for the prices to have been kept as they were for as long as they have, I am grateful. Although some might say the price could have been increased a little bit further back, yet if they didn't have an increase in cost, probably not a reason. However, now I'm being a bit speculative.

Old Glory & Sash & Saber have produced quality miniatures, and a quality service for me, each time I have interacted with them over the years. Including the most recent purchase in advance of the price increase. Chris took four calls, from this crazy miniature buyer here, to answer my questions, and the speed at which they were shipped out and received was 7 days. I'm satisfied.
