You were asked – TMP link

Are You a Mugwump?

In a wargaming sense, a Mugwump is someone who remains independent and aloof from fads and 'the newest thing'.

I always thought that the Mugwumps were a band with Cass Elliot, and John Sebastian….who knew they were wargamers?

cavcrazy, I don't recall that those mugwumps ever
released a recording, although they did 'play out'
some and were of course mentioned in the song 'Creek
Alley' as was the group 'Lovin' Spoonful' founded
by John Sebastian, after the 'mugwump' period.

@Ed The Mugwumps had one album, it was actually released after they broke up.

Well, that's three totally different definitions.
One is correct.

Yup, the Mugwumps had one, self-titled album, I believe released in 1967. Creeque Alley was also released in 1967.

And yes, I am a proud Mugwump.

There was a Canadian beer which had a Sasquatch for a mascot, his wife was known as "the mugwump". Their motto was, "Have one for the Mugwump." I forget the brand, but there may still be a tee shirt around here somewhere.

I missed out on being a mugwump when all the cool kids were mugwumps.
