Greetings, I'm starting to plan an Xmas game for my nephews. Their experience is limited to D&D and a couple Kill Team games.

For people who have never played a space combat game before which do you recommend between Starmada & Full Thrust?

Thanks much.

Full Thrust definitely

I found Starmada easier to pick up initally but neither were difficult to grasp.

3rd for Full Thrust.

It is free, well supported in the Fan community and ships go Boom

Yea, FT, especially since it is free, at least for me.

I have never played, or seen Starmada, so can't comment on it.

Full Thrust.

I'll throw my two cents in for Full Thrust as well. The turn sequence of (write your orders, everyone move, everyone shoot) tends to have everyone doing something. And if you can get players used to thinking about their next move when no one is shooting at them, it speeds things up a bit.

Play a quick game of 1v1 to walk them through the mechanics, then give them each a ship, then more and bigger ships.

FT ALL THE WAY!!!

Starmada. Smoother mechanics and faster play. I like FT but Starmada has much more depth, IMHO.

Thanks

Never played Starmada, so I can't compare. Full Thrust is easy to teach and learn and fun to play.
