Hi, I hope this kind of thing is ok to ask here? But I'm just wondering if people use MDF bases to base their figures, What would you search for when searching for them online? simply, "mdf bases"? or would you look for something specific, like the size you want, the thickness, would you specify laser cut such as "2mm laser cut mdf bases" if you'd be so kind to let me know what you search for I would be most grateful. If you have a go to supplier for such things too let us all know who they are! Please let me know where you're based too , so if you're in the UK, USA or somewhere else, let me know where you get your bases and what you search for to find them. Many thanks! Chris |

Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is not a common term where I am; people usually look for 'wood' or 'plywood' even though it's not the same thing. I get my 3mm plywood bases from LITKO. I'm in the U.S., and so is LITKO. |

In the UK Pendraken would be my first port of call for MDF bases. Excellent service. |

I'm UK based. Pendraken, Warbases (and ERM before Tony retired) are my go to for bases. Lasercraftarts is good for game specific bits. |

I would 2nd Pendraken in the UK. Very reasonably priced, especially the "bulk" packs and they also do custom sizes on request. Service is excellent as well, Leon is a "Top Bloke" |

But I'm just wondering if people use MDF bases to base their figures, I use mount board and have done so for many years. |

Chris. In the UK it's very common for folks to base using MDF . So common there are at least 15 companies offering pre-cut bases. Business must be good , 2 companies are operating full time. Pendraken and Warbases have a very strong presence on the UK wargaming scene. A search for " 2mm MDF" on eBay brings up plenty of wargame base sellers ,590 listings to be precise. These folks are mostly operating part time but do a brisk trade. Some have been running over 10 years. |

Likewise kodiakblair I get them from ebay having become a convert to the joys of mdf. They certainly look far better than my old cardboard bases. 2mm mdf bases is what I searched, sometimes with dimensions eg 45mm x 25mm if after some less usual sizes. Most of mine were from gbmakers. |

I ordered some off of Wish.com, and they were decent, but they took 6-8 weeks to arrive. I found better prices and far better deliveries from Amazon.com listings. I tried e-Bay, but it was similar to Wish for delivery times (I believe the seller was from China, as well, for those). All of my MDF bases (25mm-squares, 25mmx50mm, 25mmx75mm, and 50mm-squares) are all laser cut; most have square corners, but many of the 50mm-squares have rounded corners, which catch less on my ground cloths. I very much prefer the rounded corners… Cheers! |

I'd recommend Products for Wargamers link in the UK. They've been helpful for ordering custom sizes. |

"Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is not a common term where I am; people usually look for 'wood' or 'plywood' even though it's not the same thing. It's a pretty common item at just about every major DIY shop in the US, (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc). Maybe where you are it's called something different? You can usually find it in the lumber/plywood section. |

I have been using Amazon as a source for circular wood bases. Usually fairly inexpensive. Sometimes available in sets of multiple sizes. I haven't used them for rectangular bases as I have been using colored artist mat boards. |

Thanks for the responses everyone, interesting to find out that a lot of people purchase these via ebay and amazon, which isn't really where I had considered. I am very much interested to find out what you'd type in to find what what you want though? |

I've had excellent service in the UK from Warbases and Sarissa, Warbases probably a bit cheaper overall esp on postage |

Warbases +1. They have a wide range and invariably arrive within a couple of days. |

There are large numbers of people offering some variant. Beside bases you might consider movement trays two companies in the US that come to mind are Litko and this one thephalanxconsortium.com |
