All,
I don't believe many are aware of this range, but the minis are beautiful. I know he is not allowed to advertise here, and as a result, sales of the range have been much less than they deserve to be. Take a look and support him!

I know he is not allowed to advertise here…

The man with a thousand sock puppets? The man with the obsessive interest in one of our staff editors?

He's not allowed here for good reason.

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP20 Oct 2021 7:04 a.m. PST

I for one plan to give him full and continued support.

Wargamorium20 Oct 2021 7:57 a.m. PST

There are a number of their ranges of interest. It is unfortunate that there is no European distributor. They are superb looking figures.

Porthos20 Oct 2021 7:59 a.m. PST

I can understand why Bill does not like him. Since however sockpuppets do not hurt me nor have I (apart from my wife) any females around I admire his figures and would love to buy them if US Mail and Dutch Customs did not throw up such giant financial blockades. Unfortunately British figures now are already too expensive, let alone the American ones :-(((((

Wargamorium20 Oct 2021 8:25 a.m. PST

I agree with Porthos which is why I lament the fact that they have no EU distributor.

chrisminiaturefigs20 Oct 2021 9:29 a.m. PST

Yes so many great 15mm ranges over there, i am sure if they had a EU or even Great Britian distributor they would sell alot more. Those customs rip off's have stopped me buying from them!

Gwydion20 Oct 2021 9:40 a.m. PST

He has some lovely figures from some talented sculptors but I won't buy from someone who says if he or the shipper he employs break my figures it is my bad luck, suck it up.
Also I have no idea who he is or where his business is – instills no the confidence to buy from this type of operation.
Sounds like Bill has good reason to not facilitate his actions.

As a relatively new member of the wargaming community and tmp, I don't feel qualified to interject in what seems to be a fight within which I have no dog.

However, I will say two things..

Firstly, I enjoy Tmp immensely and am grateful that this community exists, not only for the wealth of knowledge fellow members freely share, nor just for the welcoming of newbie questions that spark debate,
or even what seems to be a bouncerless door for those without stripes, wishing to join the club.

Secondly, I enjoy it because it feels like a home for me in quite times, where a phonecall or social gathering can't be made, met or expected, despite need.

Make it 3 things….

Whatever the issue is between tmp and the aforementioned manufacturer…as a hobbyist, I play no part.

I write this because I take great enjoyment from both this forum and the miniatures nascati speaks of.

I think we ought to slap eachother across the chops once in a while, but correctionaly, rather than in a damn you forever sense.

Anyway, great forum, great figures.
I will continue to use both and hope that differences can be set aside for the hobby.

The opinion of a man sitting in a pub.

Cheers

Ry

I think you're being naive.

If a manufacturer creates multiple sock puppet accounts for the purpose of posting on forums to denigrate his competitors and praise his own products, are his actions not offensive to the entire wargaming community?

And in the days of #MeToo, should we not shun a manufacturer that engages in such bullying and cyber-sexual tactics as stalking a TMP staff member?

Ryan Zulu20 Oct 2021 1:26 p.m. PST

Bill, on the point of naivety, I accept you are correct, in that I have never heard the term 'sock puppet', or how the use of the action may have played a part in whatever has passed.

I also accept that where in our little world of miniatures, an offence may carry across tides, more easily than other hobby communities, though I do not pretend to have knowledge of the root of the issue.

I am hesitant to delve deeper, I will assume that on each side, an argument may be made and cannot presume that my little understanding of either, grants me permission to choose a banner.

On the issue of #metoo, I do have a stance, having watched a good man lose his good name and livelihood, only to have it publicicised (less fervently and too late) that he is innocent.
My position of the movement, as with most 'wokeisms' is of abhorrent disdain.
Social media and it's leaders are, to my mind…anti-social.

As said, I have no dog in this fight but if there is truth in the allegation of sexual harassment, then I apologise profusely for wording my post in such a way, that a presumption may be made of my having supported such a thing, or, taking a side.
I am sorry.

However,

I do believe that arguments/feuds/tiffs are not born eternal, it being my view that as Humans, we can avoid raising the hatchet if a ditch is more welcoming.

As I say, I am relatively new to this community and I wouldn't dare to force an opinion on others, except this…..

An olive branch may whittle but the fallen seed of peace will grow if watered.

I am sure this 'beef' will go away eventually.
In the meantime, I will retire to the stands and enjoy this wonderful forum and the free time I have to paint miniatures.

Cheers

Ry

chrisminiaturefigs20 Oct 2021 2:06 p.m. PST

Ryan, the world is a bad place but i always had my figures to paint, in my own wonderful world, always thinking i was at least in a beautiful hobby full of nice folk. But all that came crashing down when i found myself being trolled and hated, the crime, getting good prices for my figures!
Afraid this hobby is full of the same horrible types as anywhere else, just enjoy the hobby, and the miniatures.
Your final sentence is sound self advice, stick to it!

I just wish I knew who painted his minia and if the fellow has a blog. They always look great!

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP20 Oct 2021 6:01 p.m. PST

Mister Tibbles, yes he has a blog and a Facebook page.

An olive branch may whittle but the fallen seed of peace will grow if watered.

That's a bunch of mealy mouthed crap. If someone did this to your employee, I bet you would sing a different song.

All Sir Garnett21 Oct 2021 2:50 a.m. PST

Well said Ryan

Gwydion22 Oct 2021 3:50 a.m. PST

Whatever the issue is between tmp and the aforementioned manufacturer…as a hobbyist, I play no part.

That's a very lofty position to take Ryan.
Let me ask you – if a company selling oh say washing machines, spent large amounts of time and effort on sites like Trustpilot and Amazon using fake accounts to bad mouth rival washing machine manufacturers and creating fake positive reviews of their own would you think that was of no concern to you?

Eroding trust and honesty is a large part of what is wrong with some people's use of the internet. I believe it is incumbent on all of us to take a stand against such shoddy dealing.

Bill took a principled stand here, which can't have been easy, but fair play to him for maintaining it, not taking the easy way out and striking a blow for honest appraisals of the goods and services we buy.

We all play a part in these things, by opposing them and supporting those who take action like Bill, or by attempting to ignore it and looking the other way, allowing this behaviour to prosper.

I think we all owe Bill a big round of thanks here.

deephorse22 Oct 2021 6:45 a.m. PST

Eroding trust and honesty is a large part of what is wrong with some people's use of the internet.

And so is the inability to read and understand what others have written.

Gwydion22 Oct 2021 7:50 a.m. PST

You speak from experience

Ryan Zulu22 Oct 2021 8:30 a.m. PST

Gwydion,

I was clear, I think, in that my position is one of ignorance on the matter.
Saying that I play no part is hardly lofty.

If what is said is true, then of course a harm has been done, though not to me, nor my desire to hobby on.

It is my thinking that a greater harm is done by not letting things pass, seeing them for what they are (whatever that may be), rather than letting them fester.

There is no desire on my part to become entwined in what is clearly a contentious issue.
People have spoken their minds and thus far, nobody seems to have died.
With that, I say again…I apologise if I have offended anyone and hope that for the sake of the hobby, a resolution can be found.

Cheers

Ry

chrisminiaturefigs23 Oct 2021 6:16 a.m. PST

Gwydion, i was a victim of a fellow miniature painter who started the very same tactics of eroding trust and integrity against me, just because i was getting far more than he was.
I have made many orders with the offending retailer in this topic but if what you say is true regarding his conduct then he has lost a customer in me.
