Grey 'military' overalls are hardly a rarity on campaign and considering the 1812 season, likely in the majority of valises I'd have thought.
I paint them on my 1805 officers on occassion.
I wonder about the mameluke; a real one or fake?

vW- I've tried to find the AAdam/ 1800 book you referenced earlier, is it in German. I see a number but can't find that specific one without further info.

As are most of the uniforms, muted~ water colours. Again hardly a revelation, it's a composition of activity and movement.
I thought the gutted horse would have attracted more comment.
I recently suggested to some locals, that looking carefully and 'painting figures like the masters' show them in these paintings would enhance their armies significantly. It appeals to me anyway,
