you can buy it on second hand for a mere 20 €

Any idea of its content? An agglomeration of memoires?

Well that's what I was thinking, but sought confirmation.
Clearly a 'lost' Napoleonic era author due to his other merits perhaps…

Thanks Ian too, very studious chap!

"writer" and "journalist"…so not Historian :/

"en écoutant parler" what clumsy redundant bizarre title and way to write …

can't find the contents page but about from what and who it comes from

notices sur quelques grognards dont les propos sont cités dans le présent volume
Barral Barrés Billon Blaze Bourgogne Coignet Fleuret François Marcel Putigny Scheltens

the bibliography refers also to Mémoires and Souvenirs from Hugo, Hulot, Pion des Loches, Pouget etc…

@Lilian,

Indeed I would think more fictional than factual as he also wrote of a series of "Tambour" books.

And yet we credit Cornwall with good representation of Nap warfare!

Care to try with the pics again please?

It may be " clumsy redundant bizarre title and way to write …" but I clearly understood it as 'Hearing the talk of the grumblers' hence my enquiry.

Seven Men of Gascony is still a very good book that evokes some spirit of the age…
anyway, if not hostorical, then…
