I remember back in the old days purchasing 15mm Napoleonic figures on strips of 5 or 7 figures each, which I think were mini-figs. Does anyone know if you still buy these figures. They are not as nice as the new mini-figs, but they were cheap and were actually 15mm in size.

Ebay is probably your best bet, I have quite a few in need of a new home!

Sd a largish Landschneckt army as well as a painted Nikephorian Byzantine one of those figs a few years ago…had then for decades. Yes…ebay maybe.

5 figures for infantry, 3 for cavalry.

There are a few on ebay. I have a shed load of Ancient, be prepared to pay silly prices for them.

here are some:

this seller seems to have quite a few.

Bought a slew of them in about '86 in a wargaming store in Jacksonville at 'get rid of them' prices. Still have them, painted in boxes waiting to find another CLS player.

Had a couple of corps worth based on Napoleon's Battles. Fellow gamers are still using them as I wearied of the games.

I have a huge number of ECW painted and mostly painted still on the strip. Lovely figures though unfortunately I won't get around to them. Also have a more limited number of ACW strips. Open to parting with them.

Ahhhh the good old days!!! I played my first wargames with these old figures – my older brother Skip had armies of them using Fire&Steele rules with 36 figure French battalions and 54 figure Austrian battalions…..…Great memories

These were the Minifig 1st generation figures. For the longest time these, Minifig's 2nd generation figs, Essex and Heritage Napoleonettes were the Alpha and Omega of most all 15mm figs.

I have always wondered what possessed Minifigs to cast off their 2nd Gen figs in favor of their cartoonish 3rd gens. I'd wager they'd make a killing if the reintroduced their Napoleonic 2nd gens.

JimDuncanUK10 Oct 2021 11:24 a.m. PST

I have tons of them still in the original packaging.

@Jim

And if you decided to table them you'd find holes in what you needed with no ability to get more MF 2Gens, so now you have to find suitable stand ins.

Or go on ebay and hope somebody someday posts what you want.

Been there. Done that. Got fed up. Sold off. Well rid.

But I still like them…

Thanks for the update, its greatly appreciated. I suspected they may only be available on the 2nd hand market. I have a large Prussian napoleonic and many ancient armies which use those figures and wanted to see if i could fill some gaps. Looks like i may need to stay with the new minifigs. The infantry are ok, but something about the cavalry annoys me. I also wish Heritage was still around, they made nice true 15mm figures. I will check out ebay as suggested.

JimDuncanUK – would you have french napoleonic figures?

JimDuncanUK – would you have french napoleonic figures?

Now comes the challenge.

Where are the figures in the lead pile and do I remember them correctly. I had a stroke a few years back.

Give me a couple of days.

JimDuncanUK11 Oct 2021 12:28 p.m. PST

Some finds.

The figures in strips that my stroke ravaged memory remembers appear to be Baccus cavalry i.e. 6mm.

However, I have found a large box of Minifigs figures, 15mm, mostly French scattered from opened packs.

The packs look like these, yellow and green.

auction

What generation are they?

Is it worth me sorting them out?

Not French unfortunately, but I have the following strip Minifigs Austrian Napoleonics that I'd love to send to a new home:

Austrian line infantry: 35 command, 153 rank and file (188 total)
Austrian grenadiers: 12 command, 84 grenadiers (96 total)
Austrian jagers: 12 command, 33 riflemen (45 total)
Austrian artillery: 17 gunners

Total figures 346. Asking $35 USD plus shipping (unless you're in the DC area and we can work out an in-person exchange). Figures are primed not painted, good condition (bent ankles and muskets, some of the flags have broken off). PM me if you're interested.

pfmodel12 Oct 2021 2:24 a.m. PST

Eumelus – thanks for the offer, the price is certainly right, but unfortunately i already possess an Austrian army, as i have an Austrian heritage. I was after a French force mix to match up against it.

They all look like 2nd gen minfigs, which is very nice. I just completed painting up figures of the same vintage which i purchased back in 1986 from memory.

is the auction link you?

I cannot PM anyone as i am not a supporting member, you can contact me on peter.f.model@gmail.com

JimDuncanUK12 Oct 2021 3:34 a.m. PST

is the auction link you?

No. I included it to establish the figures are 2nd Generation Minifigs.

I have counted the foot figures.

3 battalions of Guard in greatcoats, 16 strong with command.

10 battalions of Line in greatcoats, 16-20-24 strong with command.

2 battalions of Voltigeurs, 15 strong with command, no Eagle.

Uncounted so far, Artillery with crews and limbers and lots of cavalry.

Oh, I have 2nd generation and Heritage figures in the lead pile that will never get painted. I will look them up an try to find them a home.

Here is a crying shame: I have the master and production molds for most of the first gen and (IIRC) all of the second generation Minifigs 15s. Trouble is mostly that I no longer have the license to make and sell in North America while I was away in Germany. So if anyone can get the rights from Dave Ryan in writing, I'd be happy to make a deal. He tells me that he is selling a lot to the USA.

I've got 5 or 6 thousand of the old figures on a strip Minifigs. For their time they were great.

pfmodel12 Oct 2021 5:47 p.m. PST

If you have old mini-fig or heritage you should consider putting them on ebay, the payment system is easier, although ebay does take a cut.

reggie8813 Oct 2021 5:15 a.m. PST

I collect Minifig 2nd gen. If anybody out there has Saxon heavy horse(painted or unpainted); I would buy them. Please e-mail me at rsampson1@att.net. Just make sure they are Minifig 2nd gen. Thanks. I also still play GDW's Fire & Steel! Plus, if anybody out there is looking for Minifig 2nd gen unpainted, I might have them. I have tons of unpainted French infantry.
