Given the thousands, perhaps 10s of thousands of cargo containers lost at sea over the past 20 years or more, its likely to be something like that.

And the sub is kind of stuck – they got rid of the drydocks at Guam a while back, with one ironically going to China.

Which would be a massive loss as the 3 Seawolf subs are the most advanced subs in the USN and have superb intelligence gathering capabilities.
