Late Uncle "Mac", passed in ‘99, was a gunnery officer on the "Minnie" and was at every battle star earned.

He was career Navy and had served from Seaman to Lt. Cmdr. He joined the Navy in 1919.

When the ship got its bow blown off at one night off Guadalcanal, he said it was tough as his berth was in the bow. Uncle Mac said he only had the clothes he was wearing for weeks,
