That camo makes me think I'm playing an RTS from the 1990s…

I'd call it the "Minecraft Camo Pattern"… ;-)

Curious? Apart from looking 'futuristic'… (and c**p!)…IS there a reason behind the camo squares?
Might it it help to break up images on the digital systems now very widely used… including IR???
Think it's just a c**ppy scheme.
But if they are 'stick on' squares… imagine the 'Fun' possible with 'personalised' camo…I can 'see'two 'F's! lol!

Was it not a UK commander in Berlin who first used this kind of cammo on AFVs during the late Cold War? Dim memory of tanks in shades of grey squires like this.

Square camo patterns were used by the US 2nd ACR and by the British Berlin Brigade back in the late 70's early 80's. A friend stationed in Berlin during that time said the British pattern worked well in a city, rubble environment. The 2 ACR pattern didn't seem to do too much for me in my experience.

Square or "Digital" camo patterns have been and are being used by several different countries for vehicles and uniforms. see

When I worked at General Dynamics 2010 time frame. WE had dozens of Chinese nationals worked for us. Some how they all had green cards. The one woman was taking emergency back to Hong Kong every 6 months for her dying mother. This lady worked on the Stryker mod program. Her husband was an engineer in the drivetrain group. She was a pain in the butt. Always calling us stupid American. I wonder how much of the program data she got out to her sick mom.
