"CAMP HERKUS, Lithuania — American soldiers have found gracious hosts in Lithuania. At this remote base, which opened in August and is now the temporary home of hundreds of American troops, government officials excitedly showed off the new 7-million-euro facility, which includes a gym stocked with state-of-the art treadmills and weight racks, rubber-turf basketball courts surrounded by container housing stuffed with bunk beds and gear, a PX selling cigarettes and candy, and a game hall where soldiers were playing first-person-shooter video games. Wouldn't be surprised. It would make sense. Apparently, the US and UK have been flying quite a few recon and elint sorties in the past few days around Kaliningrad, so something "interesting" may be going on in the region. I wouldn't be surprised if we place some troops in Poland too. |

500 guys? That deep into Russian influenced land? The term "speedbump to victory" comes to mind. Last I knew there were US troops in Poland, a Mech brigade last summer. They might have been withdrawn, but I hadn't seen any reports on it. |

I thought the previous deployment to Poland was temporary. |
