Nice model, and enjoyed your blog posting too! Hey, there's a teaser line at the blog's end, showing a poster for the 1936 Monaco Grand Prix, with an Auto Union and an Alfa Romeo battling it out….. Do you also play a car racing game that features these vintage period cars/teams? Is there a good set of rules for this golden age of Grand Prix racing before WW2? (off topic I know, but kinda partial to the Alfas – having owned two 1960s era Spyders) |

Thank you Gents! FlyXwire, I can't say I reckon a game such as that. Heck of an idea though. I just added that poster as a period piece. However, I did play this game back in the day.

Maybe there's car racing board games with game mechanics that could be 'backwards engineered' to those classic racing years (one of those projects for a worthy taker perhaps). HLC, thanks for your response! |

Now that is impressive, the Auto Union most will know but the Alfa….even I was not quite sure. I so nearly bought an Alfa Spyder. I even paid the deposit. But it did not have a roll over bar. So when I later rolled a Bertone X-19 on the N York Moors one night (stone cold sober) and the passenger side (empty) collapsed completely, even with a roll over protection, I thought I was lucky in my choice. Last time I saw that car in was it in two parts parked side by side and the plan was to weld the two parts together. I stress it now belonged to a wreck company. It was only six weeks old and my third X-19. Incredibly dangerous car. |

DH, so happy you survived that roll over! On the bright side, it probably saved you an arm and a leg in repair bills that X-19 would've eventually cost you anyway! :))) Hornswoggler, that is so cool – I bet that could work as the platform for a retro, 30s era game version (as if your original copy isn't retro-cool enough as-is). Thanks for the link! |

Believe same model sold here in the US as the Fiat X1/9. I had one of those for quite a few years. Loved it but not very practical. |

Heck we all wargame and 95% of us have not been in combat, let alone tank warfare, but we design rules to approximate reality. That said, we all drive cars and understand the perils of roads and speed. Could be a fun venture to create a game for racing these little roadsters. |

Love the Car Wars images, still have all of those tucked away somewhere. Also love the Italian stuff on your blog, not often covered. |

I love the Car Wars artwork. It reminds me of Heavy Metal the movie. |
