This looks to be an interesting period to game. I have some uniform and organisation information, but have not found any readily available information as per the title.. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you can get a hold of "The First Carlist War 1833-1840: A Military History and Uniform Guide by Conrad Cairns" it has maps of battles showing disposition of the units, it also has pretty good OOBs. It also has some strategic maps of I recall correctly.

It has very attractive illustrations and packed with valuable information for a wargamer.

I have scoured the net for that but without success. It appears to be out of print and no longer available. There appears to be no second hand availability either.

Chad, when I attended the Barrage convention last week in Maryland one of the half dozen vendors was selling a copy for a very reasonable price. I know you are in the UK but it may be worth tracking down that vendor or perhaps On Military Matters as I imagine they'd have a copy as well. Perhaps Partizan Press too…

I tried the vendors on the Barrage site and OMM, but no luck. I suspect it might have been in the Flea Market. Thanks any way.

Chad, it was definitely in the vendors section. I emailed a few to see if they have it (perhaps it was sold). If I hear anything back I will post again on this site.

Much appreciated

All Honour is Lost: Scenarios, Orders of Battle and Regulations for Wargames of the First Carlist War 1833-1840 by
Pereira, Nuno is good. There's a copy on abebooks.com for $49.00 USD. Not as good as the Cairns book, and no uniform illustrations, but a good runner up.

I too think that "All Honor is Lost" is great for wargamers of the period.

BTW, there's an excellent, detailed article on the battle of Oriamendi in Wargames Illustrated 99 (December 1995). It's by Conrad Cairns and is longer than his chapter on the battle in the book.

I checked out the book on Abebooks. The shipping price is quoted at just over the book price!! Not an option therefore
