…Turkey Out Of The F-35 Stealth Fighter Jet Program

"Fresh off his first visit with Vladimir Putin in over a year, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused a top Biden official of "supporting terrorism" and demanded the U.S. pay $1.4 USD billion for kicking Turkey out of a stealth fighter jet program.

Why it matters: Erdoğan's belligerence and deepening cooperation with Russia is sending a key U.S. relationship in the wrong direction, serving up yet another foreign policy headache for President Biden…"

"No" is a complete sentence.

He'll get it, probably about 3 actual pallets of cash, then he'll kick himself that he should have asked for more…

smithsco01 Oct 2021 9:13 p.m. PST

Not gonna happen

Thresher0101 Oct 2021 10:20 p.m. PST

He should be kicked out of NATO too.

I wonder what the fee he'll levy for that, and that we won't pay, will be?

We should publicly tell him to get stuffed, at the next UN meeting, on stage, but sadly, I doubt that will happen.

I just hope that we have "secretly" removed all the nukes from Incerlik Air Force base in Turkey.
What's to stop Erdogan from swooping in and just seizing them?
At least let the air out of the tires.

Is the idea to throw them into the arms of the Russians?…

I'm pretty sure they did, as the Turks got more Eastern than Western. The Turks becoming less secular and more religious over the past decade+ may not bode well for the West/NATO. They have or did have the 4th largest military in NATO, IIRC. And they are in the panoply of religious, tribal, ethnic, etc., age old hatreds so common in the region.

Erdogan[sounds like a guy from LotR] better get it. The USA has plans for any $$$ the Gov't can find at this point … Uncle E you are out of luck.

They have bought from the Russians before, IIRC ?

Yes. There used to be 4 Rings for the Elves. Gandalf distracted him with card tricks, and Radagast lifted it from his waistcoat pocket. Just like Penn and Teller.

I never read anything about us removing the nukes from Turkey, but like you and others, hope we did.

We'd have to be crazy to keep them there given current vectors by Erdogan.

Yep, they've bought from the Russians, and seem to be aligning with them, when not shooting their jets out of the sky, which is why we canceled their F-35 purchase.

Can't risk them turning over one of more of those to the Russians.

Yes … the Turks are not as close a NATO ally as they used to be. Or so it seems.
