Better detail than the old Airfix model (which was twice the size). I will never ever forget trying to assemble the suspension as a kid about 60 years ago…. Open turrets in 1/144? Wow. Dumb Q. Can you get crew figures in that scale? |

Thanks all, yes deadhead every Victrix tank also have open hatch options and come with a crew member. I don't do figures though so they go into the spare parts bin. |

DH, great comparison shot! The Victrix model's detail looks good and crisp this time. |

Better detail than the old Airfix model (which was twice the size). I will never ever forget trying to assemble the suspension as a kid about 60 years ago…. Ah, the trick with those were that the wheels on the sprue were spaced exactly as they need to be attached to the chassis, so the key was to attach them on the sprue then simply cut off when the glue dried. Shame Airfix forgot to mention it in the instructions. Open turrets in 1/144? Wow. Dumb Q. Can you get crew figures in that scale? As machinehead1956 points out, Victrix supply crew figures for all their tanks. Nice little sculpts too. Here's a few that I've made.

Well the things you learn…..New respect for that old Churchill kit now. The crews look good and the markings look great. Downscale from 1/72 and I can fit even more Shermans on my shelves |

The crews look good and the markings look great. Downscale from 1/72 and I can fit even more Shermans on my shelves I've kept my 1/72 but for company and battalion level games I've wanted more space on the table and that's called for a smaller scale. I looked at a few options – 15mm wasn't that much smaller than 20mm so was too similar; 12/10mm was much smaller than 1/72 (more than you might imagine) and yet not too small to distinguish units and vehicles; 6mm would allow for a lot of space on the table and I was sorely tempted but in the end it was just that little bit too small for me. So 12mm (1/144) it was and so far I've found it mixes just fine with most 10mm stuff. Compared to larger scales storage isn't a problem, you can get an awful lot of AFVs on a shelf in 1/144, I can fit about 40 tanks in the same space it would take to hold 6 tanks in 1/72. |

I have 3000+ 1/144 vehicles on one shelf, all in plastic trading card boxes. This picture was a few years ago, the front row is almost full now.
